Introducing the Stellartone TRIO         Back

The Stellartone TRIO is a unique drop-in replacement for the standard tone controls in basses and guitars. Unlike any tone pot, the TRIO solely removes unwanted high treble harmonics, with zero effect upon mid-range or bass frequencies! By reducing only the top end of the pickup's harmonics, musicians and sound engineers can easily eliminate a harsh & brittle "edge" from clean tones, and the fizzy "angry bee" noise created by overdriven preamp tubes and distortion pedals. This benefit is simply not possible by using any instrument or amplifier controls. By optimizing signals before recording, digital mixdown is simplified & improved... and live performance tones sound like perfectly-mastered tracks!

Guitarists may recall a mini-toggle / push-pull knob option on some PRS guitars made in the eighties and nineties, called the "sweet switch". By solely trimming high treble, this circuit provided a useful and musical alternative to the standard tone pot... which removes both treble and mid-range harmonics at the same rates, leaving only the bass unchanged. Unfortunately, the "sweet switch" was limited to only one treble cut frequency, which could not handle all pickups, instruments, venue acoustics, speaker types, and player's tonal preferences.

The multi-range TRIO remedies this limitation by providing the player with his choice of a pair of treble cut frequencies, from the SIX EQ circuits available during connection... plus true bypass! Performance and longevity are further enhanced via Stellartone's noise reduction circuitry, make-before-break switching, gold contacts, and the sturdy shielded & grounded metal/polymer assembly. If the player wants to audition higher or lower EQ range options, it takes only a few minutes to resolder the wires. There are no rules... a bassist may prefer the high or standard treble cuts, and a guitarist may prefer the low treble cuts. Listen and decide!
